California Van Rentals

California is blessed with a unique geological landscape that offers a wide array of scenic attractions and a variety of climates. It has sandy beaches and rugged rocky coasts, bountiful farmlands, barren deserts, dense forests and snowcapped mountain peaks. It is a favorite tourist destination for US natives as well as world travelers.

The warm tropical beaches and surf of Southern California draws many sun-loving vacationers to this state. Los Angeles, that great multi-cultural metropolis with its glamorous suburbs of Hollywood and Beverly Hills, attracts shoppers and sightseers, while the picturesque charm and beauty of San Francisco makes it a tourist favorite. The spectacular beauty of the rugged coastline at Big Sur, the alpine splendor of Yosemite Valley, the impressive grandeur of the giant Sequoia forests all combine to make this one of the favorite vacation destinations for hikers, bikers, campers, wilderness backpackers, skiers and just plain tourists.

This beloved Anaheim institution serves up vintage icons like the Matterhorn Bobsleds as well as new innovations, like laser lights and soaring fountains in the nightly show World of Colour, or mystical mouse antics in Mickey and the Magical Map. The resort, which consists of the original Disneyland Park and the adjacent Disney California Adventure Park, has themed “lands” with related rides, shows, and attractions.

Northern California beach

Northern California Beaches

Romance finds a home in this idyllic coastal region, where ocean fog rolls in from the ocean to blanket hushed redwood forests, and whales spout offshore. Along the coast, artists set up their easels to paint scenes of crashing surf and whitewashed cottages wrapped in rose-filled gardens.

California Golf Courses

The Golden State is so large that California golf courses and conditions vary tremendously in both degree of difficulty and in price. But whether you’re playing in the northern part of California on the famous Pebble Beach golf course, or in the southern part at La Jolla’s breathtaking Torrey Pines, you’ll find that the most famous and challenging courses are on the coast. In the southern part of the state, the SCGA’s Murietta course is consistently among the best public tracks and greens fees – even on the weekend – remain reasonable ($80 and below).

Carved by time between some of the oldest and newest mountain ranges in North America lies PGA WEST, a world famous golf resort just minutes from Palm Springs and Palm Desert, California. Symbolized by Coral Mountain which rises from the shell-laden desert floor bearing the distinct markings of an ancient ocean, the designs of nature and golf visionaries now rule this once submerged paradise. Here you can play a different course six days a week on 109 holes of championship golf designed by five golf legends: Arnold Palmer, Tom Weiskopf, Pete Dye, Greg Norman, and Jack Nicklaus.

To the North, both the Poppy Hills Golf Club in Pebble Beach (where the Northern California Golf Association is based) and Poppy Ridge in Livermore offer affordable and accessible courses. Weather conditions – especially the renowned winds – also vary greatly throughout the state, so be sure to check course conditions before your tee time and practice a lower knock-down shot for those situations where you’ll be hitting into the wind.

Yosemite National Park

Yosemite National Park in Northern California is one of the United States’ most scenic and famous national parks. The mountains, valleys, rivers and huge waterfalls have drawn visitors and artists here throughout the decades. Yosemite Valley, carved by glaciers during the last ice age, is located at the center of Yosemite National Park. Granite domes and many powerful waterfalls, including Upper Yosemite Falls which drops 1,430 feet at one point, rise above the forest covered floor. One of the most famous sites in the park is the sheer rock face of El Capitán. Other must see sights in the park are the Cathedral Spires, Sentinel Dome and Sentinel Rock, Half Dome, the lookout from Glacier Point, and the beautiful view of Yosemite Falls from Eagle Peak, the highest peak of the Three Brothers. For a look at some huge trees, the Mariposa Grove, located in the southern part of the park, features the largest stand of giant sequoias in the park.

Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe lies high in the mountains and is a beautiful spot year round. In summer the lake is a playground for boaters and beach goers. During the winter months the surrounding mountains offer some excellent terrain for skiing, with the Sugar Bowl Ski Area bringing in skiers from all over.

Golden Gate Bridge

San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge is one of those famous attractions that people tend to call to mind when they think of the city, and even California. The orange frame against the blue water of San Francisco Bay, or rising out of the fog that often covers the area, is an unforgettable sight.

The historic and notorious Alcatraz penitentiary, located on Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay, is one of America’s most infamous prisons. It operated for almost thirty years, closing in 1963 and re-opening as a tourist attraction in 1973. While it operated it was known for housing some of America’s most well known prisoners, including Al Capone and the “Birdman”, who would later form the basis for the fictional movie The Birdman of Alcatraz.
